As fleets continued to increase driver pay throughout 2019, driver retention improved, and the issue fell out of ATRI’s top three industry concerns. Still, it remains in the top 10 as fleets continue to look for ways to hold onto the best drivers.

ATRI suggests further improving retention by researching and prioritizing retention strategies based on driver feedback and tenure data, quantifying the relationship between safety technology deployment and driver satisfaction and retention, and creating an online compendium of retention strategies and best practices, customizable by carrier fleet size and sector.
