Find Mac LTT shines new light on safety for fuel deliveries

Mac Liquid Tank Trailers (LTT) wants to do more than just TALK about safety around the locations where fuel haulers make their deliveries.

More specifically, Mac LTT has developed the Total Area Lighting Kit (TALK) to light up the area where the driver is working when he makes a fuel delivery. The patent-pending system was unveiled during the 2017 Mid America Trucking Show in Louisville KY and is now in full production.

“I’ve watched drivers delivering fuel at convenience stores and other locations,” said Jim Maiorana, president of Mac LTT. “I’ve seen the safety problems with people driving right through the unloading area. We need to look out for the driver’s safety.”

While driver safety is a factor, the system also offers tank truck fleets a marketing advantage by spotlighting the fleet in a positive light, according to Maiorana.

TALK consists of five components that are available separately or in a complete package:

The core elements of the system are the TALK light rails that swing out swing out from either side of the work area where the API adapters are located creating an illuminated safe work zone. The rails consist of aluminum extrusions lined with red LED lights. Strobe lights are at the end of each rail.

An white LED light bar on the interlock above the API adapters provides plenty of illumination for making hose connections.

Additional lighting can be provided from the optional hose guard from Mac LTT that is designed to prevent tank damage caused by loading rack hoses and couplings.

LED lighting built into the ladder provides additional safety when drivers or other workers need access to the top of the tank trailer.

Lighting around the rear head of the trailer enhances visibility and safety at night.

“We’ve gotten a good response on the TALK system from our customers Maiorana said. “We’ll continue to make enhancements. For instance, we’ll have an alarm option by the end of the summer. We also want to make it possible to use the light rails to completely fence off the work area.”
