Larry M Greenberger, executive vice president of transportation for Endeavor Business Media, recently announced his plan to retire, effective July 1.
Endeavor’s Commercial Vehicle Group includes Trailer/Body Builders, Bulk Transporter, Refrigerated Transporter, FleetOwner, FleetMaintenance, American Trucker and HD Pickup & Van.
Greenberger started in publishing when he accepted a position at The McGraw Hill Companies, with 12 of those years at BusinessWeek magazine as sales director. He also served at Hunter Publishing as group publisher of automotive, Chilton Publishing as national sales manager for automotive, and VNU Business Media as publisher of DDI magazine, before joining Cygnus as the publisher of Firehouse Magazine. Greenberger returned to automotive as group publisher of the Vehicle Repair Group, which grew into one of the most profitable groups at EBM, and today Mass Transit is the leading brand for public transit. Endeavor’s “Wall of Fame” attests to the group’s accomplishments. The editorial team has earned 91 editorial and design awards from various industry organizations over the last six years.
“As the saying goes, find a job you love and you will never work a day in your life,” Greenberger said. “That we help our audience do their jobs better is what brings me happily to work every day. I am leaving a great team. My heartfelt thanks to this group for accomplishing executing our mission for so many consecutive years.”
Greenberger’s passion was apparent to everyone who worked with him, including Endeavor CEO Chris Ferrell.
“Larry told me that he likes working at Endeavor because of the entrepreneurial atmosphere where great ideas quickly become an industry product or offering,” Ferrell said. “We are grateful for his service and dedication over the years as Cygnus transitioned to SouthComm Business Media, before most recently being acquired by Endeavor Business Media in 2018.
“I have appreciated Larry ever since I first met him in 2014. He has always been so passionate about his brands and about his team. Larry has done a great job identifying and developing talent in his group and it showed in their work.”
Reggie Lawrence will add Endeavor’s Transportation brands to the portfolio that he manages, filling the void created by Greenberger’s retirement. Lawrence spent many years selling and managing FleetOwner and its related brands. As a result, he knows the transportation space well. “Reggie has brought a lot of good ideas and energy to Endeavor and we know that he will help us continue to build our brands in the transportation industry,” Ferrell said.
Tracy Smith, who was vice president of the Design Engineering group, was promoted to EVP and will continue to oversee Design Engineering, while now reporting directly to CRO/CMO June Griffin, instead of being part of Lawrence’s EVP group. “We realized very quickly what talent and experience Tracy brings to her work,” Ferrell said. “We had been looking for the opportunity to promote her and this transition gave us the chance to do just that.”
