Modern Transportation recently snagged a safety excellence award.
The privately held chemical and dry bulk carrier based in Pennsylvania received Idelic’s 2020 Extra Mile Award during the safety software provider’s virtual Fleet Safety Conference. The award recognizes fleets using Idelic’s Safety Suite tool to reduce injuries and maintain high safety standards, helping them rank among the safest on the road.
Idelic also announced during the conference a new systems integration with Lytx it says will help joint clients more effectively manage safety in their fleets.
“We are thrilled to be a long-standing partner with Idelic,” said Patrick Cozzens, president of Modern Transportation. “Their innovative Safety Suite has helped us to greatly improve our company’s overall safety goals by analyzing our drivers’ performance to proactively predict and prevent crashes.
“We are proud and honored to accept this prestigious award.”
Modern has utilized Idelic’s Safety Suite tool for more than a year. In that time, the company’s average injury count recorded has decreased by 8.7%, which the carrier said represents a “very significant” improvement compared to previous years.
That performance made Modern the first fleet winner of Idelic’s Extra Mile Award for safety excellence in injury reduction, which was presented by Idelic founder and co-CEO Hayden Cardiff.
Modern, which boasts nearly two dozen terminals across the United States, also recently shared on its Facebook page video captured by a Modern driver’s camera that dramatically demonstrates the effectiveness of the Lytx DriveCam system, which it says prevented its driver from being involved in a “potentially deadly situation.”
“You never know what’s going to happen out on the road … as this video clearly shows,” the carrier said.
Lytx, a video telematics provider, and Idelic, creator of the Safety Suite driver management platform, say their new partnership empowers drivers and fleet managers with key insights and a seamless, centralized and comprehensive view of driver safety.
Lytx offers an array of customizable fleet management solutions and services powered by the DriveCam Event Recorder, its advanced proprietary machine vision and artificial intelligence (MV+AI) technology that the company says can identify and alert drivers to risky driving behaviors with greater than 95% accuracy.
The company joins other third-party fleet systems currently consolidated into Idelic’s Safety Suite to help managers utilize their data, better understand the risk in their fleets and proactively predict and prevent crashes. Current Idelic integrations span asset management, electronic logging devices (ELD), human resources, training, citations and violations, applicant tracking and recruiting and pre-hire resources, making the Idelic Safety Suite a “data powerhouse” for trucking fleets looking to streamline and optimize their technology.
“The data collected by Lytx is an essential part of the overall equation for understanding driver risk,” Cardiff said. “By incorporating driving behaviors observed both inside and outside of the vehicle via Lytx’s DriveCam with the broader out-of-cab insights within Safety Suite, such as job history, CSA scores, insurance information, test results, training and more, we can accurately contextualize risk through our AI-based analytics, adding significant value to our joint customers.”
Through this integration, customers using Idelic’s Safety Suite alongside Lytx’s Driver Safety Program will be able to automatically connect video telematics data from Lytx to Safety Suite. By combining the video-based insights uncovered by Lytx’s video telematics technology with Idelic’s data organization, AI and predictive analytics for overall driver risk, fleets can unlock a comprehensive, 360-degree understanding of their driver safety programs and make more proactive and data-driven decisions, Idelic said.
With the Idelic Safety Suite serving as a central location for multiple fleet solutions, this integration will help fleets streamline workflows and uncover insights hidden within the firehose of data hitting fleets every day.
“At Lytx, it’s our dream that no commercial driver is ever the cause of a collision,” said Frank Schneider, director of integration partnerships at Lytx.
