American PetroLog fuel logistics helps with commissioning of USS Sioux City
The United States Navy's newest warship began the journey from Marinette WI to Annapolis MD for the Commissioning Ceremony that took place November 17. The trip to the commissioning took the ship through four of the Great Lakes, up the Saint Lawrence River, through Montreal PQ, Canada to the Atlantic Ocean and south to the ceremony location in Annapolis.
The team at American PetroLog of Lafayette LA was called upon to provide just-in-time fueling services to the USS Sioux City at Naval Submarine Base New London. Within 10 hours of arriving in Connecticut, the USS Sioux City was fueled on on her way to a timely arrival in Annapolis.
"American PetroLog takes pride in being able to respond to emergencies for all of our customers and we feel it is our patriotic duty to act swiftly and assist the United States Military in their time of need" says Larry Weidner, retired Air Force Master Sergeant and American PetroLog's director of government services. "We've proven our ability for rapid response over the years and we are proud to exceed our customers expectations in situations like this".
The services provided by American PetroLog are recognized as the top in the industry and Louisiana Congressman Clay Higgins said: "I want to commend American PetroLog, a Lafayette-based business, for their efforts to ensure that the USS Sioux City arrived in Annapolis for an upcoming commissioning ceremony. It is great to see local businesses making an impact across the United States and the world. The oil and gas industry powers all aspects of modern society, including America’s Navy.”
