Flint Hills Resources announced that it will open a new office in Ames IA that will provide up to 20 new jobs. The new regional office will house operations, human resources, and purchasing departments to support four newly acquired Flint Hills ethanol plants throughout Iowa.
The Ames office will be operational April 1, 2011, and will focus on supporting the company’s ethanol facilities in Iowa through corn purchasing and selling throughout the state.
“Ames is a thriving city with a diverse business community,” said Bob Copher, senior vice-president of Flint Hills Resources Renewables. “We are fortunate to have the opportunity to expand our Iowa operations into Ames.”
Flint Hills Resources, an independent subsidiary of Koch Industries Inc and a leading producer of transportation fuels in the Midwest, has acquired four Iowa ethanol plants since 2010 in Shell Rock, Menlo, Fairbank, and Iowa Falls.
In addition, Flint Hills has a significant presence in Iowa. The company distributes refined fuels throughout the state and owns a fuel terminal in Bettendorf. It also operates asphalt plants in Algona, Davenport, and Dubuque.
