The Dangerous Goods Advisory Council (DGAC) is passing along updated information from the Department of Transportation (DOT) concerning the situation on hazmat transport and production in China during the Olympic period June 1 through October 1.
PHMSA notes numerous and conflicting reports it has received to date and the agency is still working to sort out the details. In reviewing the DOT situation report, there does not appear to be any confirmed control requirements that will take effect June 1, as some reports have indicated, according to DGAC.
PHMSA references the list of 257 restricted chemicals that DGAC provided in an earlier message to members. DGAC will send along DOT updates as it receive them.
