Inter Terminals, headquartered in England, recently restructured its bulk liquid storage facilities organization to integrate NuStar Europe, which the company acquired in late 2018, creating one of the most comprehensive multi-product networks in Europe, with 23 terminals in six countries and a combined capacity of 5.8 million cubic meters.
The NuStar Europe deal grew Inter Terminals’ UK storage capacity to more than 1.8 million cubic meters, making it the largest independent storage provide in the country, the company said.
David McLoughlin will head the newly combined United Kingdom and Ireland regions as managing director and country manager, overseeing around two-thirds of the company’s 650-strong workforce in facilities at strategic locations on England’s east and west coasts, as well as in Grangemouth and Clydebank in Scotland, in Belfast in Northern Ireland, and on the Shannon Estuary in Ireland.
“(The restructuring) reflects the significant expansion of the company’s storage locations in the UK and the Netherlands as a result of the acquisition,” McLoughlin said. “And (it) provides these regions with a dedicated management structure, whilst also creating a uniform model across the six countries in which the company now operates.”
McLoughlin, formerly a vice president with NuStar Terminals, assumed an interim role with Inter Terminals following its acquisition of NuStar Europe. Inter Terminals said his new role aligns the important UK and Ireland regions with the country management structure in place at facilities in the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden and Denmark.
McLoughlin brings more than 23 years of wide-ranging experience within the bulk liquid storage industry to his new role, having started his career in marketing, followed by a range of experience before moving into senior management roles. His skills and experience cover the spectrum of storage solutions for the oil, chemical and biofuels markets, from health and safety and the environment, to regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
As part of the restructure, Arjen Schneiders was appointed managing director and country manager for the Netherlands.
“This was a significant appointment of a highly experienced industry professional into a senior and very important role,” the company said.
