National Tank Truck Carriers recently revealed the eight champion finalists in its 2022-23 Professional Driver of the Year contest.
The association will crown a grand champion during the 2023 NTTC Annual Conference, set for May 20-23, 2023, in Boston, Massachusetts.
The 2022-23 champion finalists are:
- Robert Anderson, Florida Rock & Tank Lines
- Jefferson Benjamin, SWTO
- David Lepak, Quality Carriers
- Robert Newsome, Cox Petroleum
- Richard “Jerry” Locke, Kenan Advantage Group
- David Powell, Usher Transport
- Pamela Randol, Highway Transport
- Kenneth Tolliver, G&D Trucking/Hoffman Transportation
Collectively, they boast 21.7 million accident-free miles and 230 years of commercial trucking experience.
“The impeccable safety records demonstrate their commitment to safety and the industry,” NTTC said in a release.
Now the group advances to the final round of the selection process, where a panel of industry professionals will judge them on their knowledge of the tank truck industry, dedication to safety, ability to communicate the industry’s messages, overall safe driving record, and influence outside of their driving responsibilities.
The grand champion will serve as the face of the tank truck industry, representing NTTC at safety-focused events throughout the year and sharing NTTC’s mission of safety and education with the public.
Randol, a Desert Storm veteran, is Highway Transport’s third finalist, following reigning driver of the year Thomas Frain, and 2020-21 finalist Alen Smailovic.
“Pam’s passion for the profession of trucking began in her childhood and continued into her military service during Desert Storm,” Highway Transport said in a release. “Pam’s spirit shines with everything she does every day. She builds relationships wherever she goes, and this has a positive impact on our industry.
“We are grateful for her service at Highway.”
