Peterbilt Motors Company brought its best in fuel economy to the 2015 Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Annual Meeting in Nashville TN with its aerodynamic flagship Model 579 EPIQ--which includes the PACCAR MX-13 engine--and a separate MX-13 standalone display so attendees can get a closer look at the ground-breaking engine.

The Model 579 EPIQ is a perfect fit.”
According to Peterbilt’s Chief Engineer Landon Sproull, the Model 579 EPIQ improves fuel efficiency by up to 14%. It includes many of the aerodynamic features included on the SuperTruck, which achieved 10.7 miles per gallon after extensive field testing.
EPIQ includes another new proprietary Peterbilt system called APEX, an optimized drivetrain that pairs the PACCAR MX-13 Engine with the Fuller Advantage Automated Transmission.
“The MX-13 is an industry leader in fuel efficiency, performance and reliability. We developed proprietary control logic that provides precise communication between the MX-13 and the Advantage transmission for a fully integrated powertrain that delivers superior fuel economy,” said Sproull.
