Featuring a more robust, streamlined design, Peterbilt debuted its new chassis routings for the Models 579 and 567 that improve serviceability. The introduction was made February 29 during the Technology & Maintenance Council Annual Meeting in Nashville TN.
The new chassis routings--which run the length of the truck--organize air, electrical and fuel lines into individual bundles to facilitate quick, efficient identification and servicing of these systems. The routings are secured with newly designed frame brackets that hold each bundle separately and provide even greater durability.
“Peterbilt’s new routings are simple and optimized for greater robustness and ease of maintenance,” said Scott Newhouse, Peterbilt chief engineer. “We benchmarked leading designs to engineer the best, most modern chassis routings in the industry.”
This new configuration is currently in production. Peterbilt featured the new chassis routings on a standalone display in its exhibit at TMC. Peterbilt’s exhibit focused on products and services to help fleets minimize operating costs through improved fuel economy, maximum uptime, increased safety and simplified service.
In addition to the optimized chassis routings display, the company showcased its connected truck remote diagnostics technology SmartLINQ, its Rapid Check expedited dealer diagnostics program, the new Bendix Wingman Fusion safety system and two fuel efficient Model 579 EPIQ trucks.
