Texas Tank Works (TTW) recently opened a second location in Hillsboro, Texas, and soon will add a third in Mont Belvieu.
All three locations, including Colorado City, are committed to “Doing it Better.”
The company slogan isn’t just a turn of phrase. It’s the guiding principle by which every employee, manager and owner conducts all cleaning jobs, large, small—and unique—and the reason for its growth.
“With our state-of-the-art facilities and extensive tank cleaning experience, we are ideally suited to handle hard-to-clean units,” the company said. “By ‘Doing it Better,’ we are efficient in managing routine tank-cleaning operations, as well as developing out-of-the-box solutions when customer have problems.”
TTW principals boast more than 80 years of experience in hazardous chemical management, confined-space entry, waste management and waste minimization. The company’s four-bay facility in Colorado City serves the West Texas chemical and oilfield market. Based on that site’s success, and utilizing its extensive industry experience, TTW broke ground last March on its second location in Hillsboro.
The newest facility, which is situated south of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, complements TTW’s well-established Colorado City location. The Hillsboro facility cleans tank trailers, ISO containers, roll off boxes, frac tanks and totes; and provides complete trailer inspection and repair services.
“Due to COVID-related delays, construction took longer than anticipated,” the company said. “However, the extra time allowed us to ensure the facility, equipment and all operations were designed, installed and tested to the highest industry standards.”
The new facility, located at 251 Industrial Loop (off I-35 at exit 370A), opened in November 2020 with five bays for chemical tank and tote cleaning, kosher cleaning, trailer inspections and trailer repair. Normal hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with appointments available for afterhours or weekend needs.
“Our Hillsboro location was specifically designed from the ground up with dedicated office and yard space to allow a bulk transport terminal operation to run independently of TTW facility operations,” TTW said. “We are currently looking for a bulk transporter to terminal in Hillsboro, which is ideally suited to cover Texas and the Southwest.”
Work on a third site in Mont Belvieu (east of Houston) is underway. The location will feature a five-bay tank wash facility that offers the same full line of services, including tank washes, tote cleaning and recertification, specialty container cleaning, and trailer inspections. It’s expected to open this summer, TTW said.
Due to customer demand, all TTW locations have added trailer inspection and repair services. Locations can complete FMCSA truck and trailer inspections, VIK inspections, tote recertification’s and trailer repair services. Locations boast large, secure yards with plenty of room to store tankers, and the company also offers a drop-and-swap program for tank washes, totes, tank inspections and repairs.
Hillsboro and Colorado City are equipped with 60-horsepower Mohawk boilers from Superior Boiler with steam output of 2070pph saturated steam. Vat systems for tank cleaning include stainless steel hot water tanks, stainless detergent tanks, stainless cold water tanks and, where applicable, stainless recirculating tanks.
High-volume, high-pressure steam, water, detergents and other cleaning compounds are delivered to each bay through 40-hp high-volume pumps and Gamajet 8 spinners rated at 200psi/100gph.
The company’s original location in Colorado City is the premier tank wash and inspection facility in the Permian Basin, TTW said. The versatile wash rack offers interior and exterior washes on tank trailers, ISO containers, roll off boxes, frac tanks, hoses and specialty containers—and more unusual cleans.
An example is a recent job TTW completed for a customer in the wind turbine industry.
The major wind turbine power generator was dismantling and relocating existing units to a new location, and wanted the turbine components cleaned prior to installation. So TTW’s Colorado City employees thought outside the box in developing a procedure to clean the large generating housings and blades quickly and efficiently, while units still were mounted on transportation trailers.
“By ‘Doing it Better,’ TTW was able to cost-effectively assist its customer, completing the cleaning project on time and on budget,” the company said.
TTW Colorado City also specializes in hard-to-clean oilfield chemicals, including frac polymers and gels, acids and other chemical utilized in oil and gas exploration and productions—and anything else a customer needs cleaned.

“We look forward to managing all our customers’ tank service needs,” the company said.
