New Wakespeed 500 Pro Bluetooth alternator regulator and 48V/12V bi-directional DC-DC converter unlock faster charging speeds, increased efficiency

Dragonfly Energy recently expanded its Wakespeed product line with the Wakespeed 500 Pro Bluetooth alternator regulator (WS500 Pro) and the Wakespeed 48V/12V Bi-Directional DC-DC converter (WS48-12x).

The two new additions are designed to empower truckers to maximize their on-board power and optimize charging efficiency, Dragonfly said.

Paired with the Wakespeed mobile app, WS500 Pro users now can wirelessly configure, update, and monitor their alternator charging directly from their smartphones. This newly integrated communication technology and intuitive app, available for both iPhone and Android, also unlocks the potential for future features.

The WS48-12x simplifies installation and streamlines power distribution within mobile applications utilizing both 12- and 48-volt DC systems. This bi-directional intelligent DC-DC Converter manages power between 12 and 48 volts, sending power from where it is available to where it is needed while respecting the needs and capabilities of both the 12- and 48-volt systems.  Whether using the existing chassis alternator to charge the 48-volt battery or supporting legacy 12-volt loads from the 48-volt battery, the WS48-12x offers a high level of efficiency.

Designed to work exclusively in combination with the WS500 and WS500 Pro, with or without a high output 48-volt alternator, this powerful converter unlocks full charging potential while greatly simplifying system installation. By converting power bidirectionally from 48 to 12 volts, the device empowers original equipment manufacturers and system integrators to manage energy sourced from alternators efficiently, ensuring optimal performance and reliability across diverse applications.

“Everyone agrees that platforms are going to 48 volts,” Wade Seaburg, Dragonfly chief revenue officer, said in a news release. “These products allow heavy-duty trucks to leverage existing alternators to charge 48-volt battery systems faster while still maintaining a reliable and efficient power supply.”

The Wakespeed product line is designed to work seamlessly with Dragonfly’s Battle Born Batteries. Wakespeed products work across various industries, with a strong presence in marine, overland, and commercial applications, particularly for OEMs.

The WS500 Pro will be available soon, with shipments expected to begin in late summer, Dragonfly said.

The WS48-12x is currently available for purchase and shipping.
