TE Connectivity expands connectors

New AMPSEAL 16 connectors offer greater temperature range; NTSEAL 20 connectors are designed for harsh environments

TE Connectivity, a leader in connectivity and seniors, recently introduced AMPSEAL 16 high-temperature connectors and NTSEAL 20 position connectors.

As an extension of the AMPSEAL 16 series, the new AMPSEAL 16 connectors offer greater temperature range and increased design options, the company said. Compared to 125°C for the standard AMPSEAL 16 connectors, AMPSEAL 16 high-temperature connectors allow for a 20% increased temperature range of up to 150°C.

They also have a higher flammability rating of UL94 V-0 and two sealing options for SAE and ISO wires. Differentiated with a new gray colored housing, these high-temperature variants are easily identifiable and the four discrete color polarization keys help prevent miss-mating. In combination with the fully assembled one-piece-design, these high-temperature connectors are a cost-effective, easy to handle and assemble product line.

AMPSEAL 16 connectors, targeted for truck and bus, off-road, heavy-duty industrial, recreational and agricultural industries, are a solution for on-engine applications, after treatment systems and other high-temperature applications increasing the design options throughout the vehicle or machine.

TE Connectivity’s new NTSEAL 20 position connector are designed to address the need for flexible and robust wire-to-wire connectivity in a compact format, the company said. The new 20-position, high-density wire-to-wire connector utilizes the TE/DEUTSCH Size 16 & 20 Common Contact System for inline applications.

The rugged, sealed connector system is IP67, IP68 and IP6K9K-rated for use in agricultural vehicles, buses, construction equipment, trucks and other applications and industries where environmental protection is required. In addition, its hybrid contact agreement provides design flexibility for power and signal applications.

“With the increasing electrification of commercial vehicles, high-performance and high-density connectors are needed in the existing and future markets,” said Zhaowen Zhou, engineering manager at TE Connectivity. “Our NTSEAL 20 position connector not only meets this need, but also joins the industry trusted DEUTSCH size 16 & 20 contacts, which is the proven and future choice for harsh-environment applications.”   

NTSEAL 20 connectors can be used in environments exposed to extreme temperatures and engine-level vibrations, TE said. The integrated Terminal Position Assurance (TPA) and Connector Position Assurance (CPA) tool-free mount design eliminates the need for additional parts or tools, providing quick, easy installation and repair.

Additionally, back shells and mounting clips are available to provide engineers the options needed to design robust solutions for use in harsh environments.
