The nomination period for the Truckload Carriers Association’s Safety Professional of the Year Award now is open.

The annual award recognizes an individual whose service to the trucking industry has helped to improve safety on our roadways. TCA is looking for nominees with actions and achievements that signal a true commitment to elevating safety standards, the association reported.

Jeff McKinney, Jetco Delivery vice president of safety, claimed the 2024 award. McKinney, who has over 25 years of industry experience, has led Jetco to numerous safety awards and is an active participant at industry conferences. His leadership helped Jetco improve regional road safety, “significantly” reducing distracted driving and intersection crashes, the company said.

“One of the things that makes Jeff shine is his ability to make safety approachable and accessible to all,” Amanda Schuier, Jetco strategic maintenance director, said in a news release. “Jeff maintains a ‘see, say, do’ mentality. I frequently spot him out with our professional drivers, diesel technicians, office staff, and more.

“His example helps us all live and breathe safety every single day, across all departments of the company.”

This year’s winner will be celebrated among their safety peers at TCA’s upcoming Safety & Security Meeting/NATMI Annual Meeting, set for June 8-10 in Louisville, Kentucky.
