Atlantic Bulk Carrier recently honored its newest million-mile safe drivers.
Richard Coppage, Gary Reagor, Ivy “Sonny” Strickland and Tommy Wyffels all surpassed 1 million miles without a preventable accident or incident while driving with the tank truck carrier this year. The veteran truckers all received a custom-designed ring and recognition throughout the company for their achievement.
Safety director Christopher Taggart met with each of the drivers and presented their custom-designed rings.
“Atlantic Bulk Carrier takes great pride in the hard work put in every day by all of our drivers,” said Atlantic Bulk founder and CEO Gary W. Short. “These drivers exemplify the level of professionalism and commitment to safety that is a hallmark of our operations.”
Coppage, at right in the top image, joined Atlantic Bulk in 2002 and primarily handles local deliveries from the home terminal near Richmond VA. He specializes in deliveries of dry bulk materials and also serves as a trainer for Atlantic Bulk.
Reagor hauls specialized chemicals out of North Carolina. He earned his million-miles ring in nine years.
Wyffels joins his father, Dan Wyffels, among the 39 drivers who have achieved million-mile status with Atlantic Bulk, which is the largest tank-truck carrier based in Virginia. The younger Wyffels handles regional deliveries of dry materials throughout the East Coast.
Strickland works out of the Columbia SC terminal, where he has served one customer in a dedicated position for many years.
“These drivers are the best of the tank-truck industry and we are proud to have them in our family,” Short said.
