A House of Representatives bill (HR 3820) that would provide a tax credit for the accelerated development and deployment of advanced safety systems for commercial motor vehicles has been forwarded to the Committee on Ways and Means, according to House of Representative information.
The bill, introduced by Mike Thompson (R-CA), would apply to monitoring systems for brake stroke, as well as warning systems for lane departure, collision, and vehicle stability. If approved, the tax credit would include an amount equal to 50 percent of the cost of any qualified commercial vehicle advanced safety system placed in service by the taxpayer during the taxable year.
