Ferrellgas, Overland Park KS, and Frank Thompson Transport, El Dorado AR, are among the first to donate tank trailers to a training center under development by the Little Rock AR Fire Department (LRFD), according to a fire department official.
J T Cantrell, assistant fire chief, said the training center continues to look for donations of an MC307 and MC312, as well as another MC306 that could be used for a turned-over prop. Ferrellgas provided the training center with an MC331 after seeing an article about the request in Bulk Logistics Trends,, a weekly e-newsletter from Bulk Transporter. The MC306 donation came from Frank Thompson Transport, Cantrell said.
He added that the center needs tank trailers that are no longer serviceable, but capable of being transported to the training center's site. The department is willing to pay the transport cost and would furnish a letter attesting to the donation of the trailers for the owners' estimated value for tax purposes.
Doug Coney, assistant fire chief, has been named to head the training project. The training center is expected to be completed by the end of 2007. For more information, contact Coney or Cantrell at 624 S Chester St, Little Rock AR, or telephone 501-918-3760 or 501-918-3736.
