U.S. production of major plastic resins totaled 8.2 billion lbs. in April, a 4.9% decrease compared to the prior month, and an increase of 6.8% compared to the same month last year, according to new statistics from the American Chemistry Council.
Year-to-date production was 33.2 billion lbs., a 4.6% increase compared to the same period in 2023, ACC reported.
Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 8.4 billion lbs. in April, an increase of 0.5% compared to the prior month, and an increase of 13.7% from the same month a year earlier. Year-to-date sales and captive use were 33.5 billion lbs., a 9.3% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
