June 2, 2023
Acquisition includes 200 trucks, 200 employees, expands waste hauler’s geographic footprint in Southeastern U.S.

Bulk Express Transport, a portfolio company of Alterna Equity Partners, recently acquired Attaway Hauling and Choice Bulk Carriers.

Headquartered in Miami, Bulk Express provides waste transfer station management and long-haul transportation, collection, and loading of waste and other materials. The addition of Attaway expands the company’s geographic footprint in the Southeastern U.S., while also diversifying its customer base and adding complimentary services and end markets, Bulk Express said.

“The Bulk Express family of companies is excited to partner with the management team at Attaway to facilitate the next phase of growth for both companies within the region,” Bulk Express CEO Steve Worster said in a news release. “Bulk Express has a well-established track record supporting top tier clients, and Attaway’s stellar reputation is a strong complement to our existing position in the Southeast.”

Headquartered in Gordon, Georgia, Attaway operates across Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee, providing numerous waste and industrial services to clients, including transfer station management, disposal hauling, and liquid bulk hauling. Established in 2012, Attaway has grown rapidly in recent years to become a key player in the region, supporting customers across a variety of waste and industrial end markets.

Choice Bulk supplements Attaway’s core business by providing long-distance dry and liquid bulk hauling of basic materials, minerals, and chemicals. Combined, the companies have approximately 200 trucks and 200 employees, including more than 150 employee drivers.

Bulk Express, founded in 1992, provides long-haul transportation services for municipal solid waste, recyclables, aggregates, construction and demolition debris debris, contaminated soils, ash, sludge, and other specialty materials. The acquisition of Attaway expands Bulk’s operational footprint and service offering, allowing the company to support its diverse customer base across a broad service area, the company said.

Worster will lead the company post-closing, supported by the existing operations team at Attaway, and with further operational support provided by the large resource base of Bulk Express across Florida and the Southeast.

“The partnership with Bulk Express provides Attaway the opportunity to continue our rapid expansion in the region, and also allows us to better serve customers across our diverse combined service offering,” said Robbie Attaway, Attaway founder. “We are excited about the strong potential the combined business will have and look forward to working with our new partners at Bulk.”
