E Stewart Mitchell Inc, a Baltimore MD tank truck carrier, will be using company tractors to pull other types of trailers to the Gulf Coast area devastated by the storm, according to the Maryland Motor Truck Association (MMTA).
Although owner Dave Mitchell only has tankers in the fleet, he and MMTA are seeking other types of donated trailers for the relief effort.
Mitchell and his drivers will be leaving in two weeks and will be gone for about two weeks distributing supplies and food.
E Stewart Mitchell employees will remain with the donated trailers the entire time they are in use, MMTA said.
MMTA has received several requests from relief organizations seeking companies willing to donate drivers and vehicles to aid in the Katrina relief effort. In the last week, many MMTA members assisted with moving emergency supplies south in response to the call to action issued by the association.
