In an effort to make the handling and distribution of chemical products more secure from terrorist attack, the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) has joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the American Chemistry Council (ACC) in a security initiative: the Chemical Sector Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC).
The Chemical Sector ISAC, a partnership between the FBI's National Infrastructure Protection Center (NIPC) and the ACC, is designed to provide two-way communication between NIPC and ISAC participants. Through the center, NIPC can deliver timely and actionable security-related information to chemical makers and distributors. It also provides a secure, simple mechanism for participants to share information regarding suspicious or malicious incidents with NIPC for analysis or dissemination.
This network is being operated and financed by the Chemical Transportation Emergency Center (CHEMTREC), a 24-hour emergency communication service. For more information, access www.americanchemistry.com or www.nacd.com.
