Blackmer's new Piston Air Valve has a sliding piston (9C) and U-Cup O-Rings (6) that replace the traditional diaphragm-style air valves. The new valve design offers longer service life with the same easy installation and operation features. Another new feature is a pressed-in breather vent (6A), which replaces the threaded vent and eliminates clearance concerns.

The new Piston Air Valve kit may be ordered as a pump mounted option (TXD2.5A-AVB) or as a complete conversion kit (#891705). Conversion kits are completely interchangeable with the current diaphragm air valve kit. The kits bolt directly to the TXD relief valve in the same way as to old valves. Air valve settings, operation, and adjustment functions remain the same.

At this time, the Piston Air Valve is only available for the TXD2.5A pumps. Kits for the TXD2A and TXD3E will be available soon. In the meantime, Blackmer will continue to offer both the Piston Air Valve and Diaphragm Air Valves.
