Volvo Trucks and Michelin again team up in sponsoring the Volvo Trucks Safety Award, which focuses on the importance of highway safety for the trucking industry and for all motorists. Fleets are invited to begin submitting entries.

The Volvo Trucks Safety Award is open to all US and Canadian fleets operating at least five Class 8 units. Fleets must have at least one Volvo tractor in operation to be eligible for the award. Entrants will be ranked by their accident frequency rates. Participating fleets also will be judged on their accident prevention activities.

“Safety is paramount for both Michelin and Volvo Trucks, so we're pleased to recognize the hard work and dedication to safety exhibited by the industry's top performers,” says Ron Huibers, president, Volvo Trucks North American sales & marketing. “Volvo's longstanding core value of safety guides our designs and is woven throughout our products. The Volvo Trucks Safety Award allows us to help fleets strengthen their safety cultures and programs.”

The deadline for entry is July 31, 2012. The winners of the award will be announced during the American Trucking Associations' Management Conference & Exhibition in October. The two grand prizes will be awarded to the fleets with the best records in two divisions based on annual vehicle miles traveled: less than 20 million miles, and more than 20 million miles.
