Eaton announced that the company’s line of manual transmissions are available as an option on Freightliner chassis equipped with Cummins Westport ISX-12 G heavy-duty natural gas engines. The Eaton transmissions will debut on Freightliner Cascadia day cabs with Westport engines that are scheduled to go into production in September 2013.
Based on the Cummins ISX-12 heavy-duty diesel engine platform, the 12-liter ISX-12 G natural gas engines operate exclusively on either compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG) and feature ratings up to 400 horsepower and 1,450 ft-lb of torque. An engine brake is optional.
