The average price of a gallon of diesel fuel nationwide dropped for a second straight week, falling 1.1 cents to $2.79 a gallon, according to US Department of Energy information

The average price of a gallon of diesel fuel nationwide dropped for a second straight week, falling 1.1 cents to $2.79 a gallon, according to US Department of Energy information.

That is higher than the previous week’s decline of less than one cent, which came on the heels of a four-week stretch during which prices rose a total of 22.6 cents.

The cheapest diesel is along the Gulf Coast, where the average price retreated 1.3 cents to $2.733. California at $2.964 is still the most expensive place to purchase diesel.
