OPW Engineered Systems, a leading manufacturer of systems for loading and unloading hazardous materials and a division of OPW Fluid Transfer Group, recently purchased and installed a new state-of-the-art robotic welder at its manufacturing facility located in Lebanon OH. The robotic welder will help OPW Engineered Systems remain a leader in developing the highest quality swivel joints for the safe and efficient transfer of all types of critical hazardous materials.

Designed to produce a consistent, certified X-ray quality weld each and every time, robotic welding is performed through the use of mechanized programmable tools and is a completely automated welding process. Through this process, OPW Engineered Systems is able to further enhance the product quality and durability of its swivel joints, which already feature heavy-duty construction and unique design components that help make them the best available swivel technology in the industry. The new robotic welder will initially be used for all “out-the-door” swivel joints, but will ultimately be used to weld all the swivel joints manufactured in the Lebanon-based facility, including those manufactured to be part of a loading arm. In addition to enhancing product quality, the new robotic welder will also allow OPW Engineered Systems to significantly improve lead-time efficiency.

“Product quality has always been a main focus for us at OPW, and by implementing a new robotic welder into our manufacturing capabilities, we are raising the bar yet again in product excellence and helping to ensure that our customers receive a consistently high quality swivel joint,” says Mike Krauser, vice-president of operations at OPW Engineered Systems. “Additionally, our new robotic welder will help improve our delivery times by giving us the ability to focus more on custom welds that are so common in our business. This is just another example of why OPW Engineered Systems is the brand you can trust for reliability, safety, service and support.”
