The Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA) Endowment Committee has named Virginia-based American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) a second-time recipient of its annual Endowment Fund Grant in the amount of $4,200. ATRI will be recognized at an October 29 ceremony during TIDA's 2009 annual seminar in San Antonio TX.

With a membership of more than 1,400 trucking professionals, TIDA was founded in 1993 as a national organization committed to actions and activities that promote safety and reduce costs to trucking. Members include motor carriers, transportation logistics companies, insurers of motor carriers, third-party claims administrators, and defense counsel.

ATRI, part of the American Trucking Associations Federation, is a 501(c) (3) charitable institute whose primary mission is to conduct research in the field of transportation, with an emphasis on the trucking industry's role in safe, efficient, and viable transportation systems.

Working on behalf of motor carriers across the nation, TIDA members develop strategies and share knowledge to defend the trucking industry in personal injury, property damage, worker compensation, and cargo claims.

TIDA's 17th annual Industry Seminar will be held Oct 28-30 at the Marriott San Antonio Rivercenter in San Antonio. It will feature an Oct 28 golf outing and special industry educational breakout sessions.

This year's conference, “Solutions for Tough Economic Times,” will offer presentations on the MCS 90; Cargo Theft and Security Issues; Medicare Set Aside Trusts; CSA 2010; Solutions to Loading Docks; and an industry member open discussion on trucking claims and litigation.
