The Grafton and Upton Railroad (GU), with general offices in North Grafton MA and direct connections to the CSX Northeast mainline, has initiated operations at its new 38-acre Envirobulk transload terminal in West Upton MA, the cornerstone of the new Integrated Logistics Center created along the Grafton and Upton rail Line.

Located at the cross-road of I-90 and I-495 in Massachusetts, the state-of-the-art facility will create new jobs to boost the local economy, and will serve as the most efficient and modern rail to truck transfer point in the Northeast for liquid, dry, and pellet products, according to company officials.

“This is a major milestone for the 137 year old Grafton and Upton Railroad and great news for customers searching for a transportation alternative in the Northeast and New England,” says Eric Moffett, who heads business development along the 16-mile rail line. “As we bring the Envirobulk facility up to full operational capacity, customers will be able to reach a large client base within hours and enjoy a more customer focused and efficient rail to truck logistical service than ever before.”

The new facility has been hailed as one of the most modern facilities in New England with full security, flexible operating hours, on-line inventory systems, and enhanced safety measures and design for liquid and dry bulk transfer. With on-site facilities to permit unloading of liquid commodities in all temperatures, an automatic bulk pellet bagging facility, and abundant access to local motor carrier services, customers can ship product year round with bundled billing options and on-line inventory management.

The Grafton and Upton Railroad is a privately held short line established in 1873. With headquarters in Marlborough MA, it is part of the First Colony Group offering full turn-key terminal development and operations as well as build-to-suite rail-centric manufacturing and distribution facilities. The Envirobulk Terminal is a component of the Grafton and Upton’s Integrated Logistics Center, a corridor with a substantial amount of adjacent, developable land for the location of industries using rail service of the Grafton and Upton Railroad in New England.
