With Deep black paint and contrasting silver and orange striping, the International LoneStar Harley-Davidson Special Edition is certain to grab plenty of attention. Navistar Inc unveiled the limited-production truck at the 2009 Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky

The chrome-laden big rig truck is one-of-a-kind vehicle. It was designed in collaboration with the legendary motorcycle manufacturer, and it shows the Harley-Davidson influence from front to rear.

The International LoneStar Harley-Davidson Special Edition is available in a sleeper configuration only. It became available for order in April and will enter production in June. Only 250 units will be produced in 2009.

“The Harley-Davidson Special Edition takes LoneStar to the next level,” said Dee Kapur, president of Navistar Truck Group. “It's a perfect combination of LoneStar originality and Harley-Davidson authenticity.”

The special edition tractor is authentic all the way down to its design elements. The headlights are authentic headlamps from Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and the leather seats feature the same Harley-Davidson Bar and Shield that appear on Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

The International LoneStar Harley-Davidson Special Edition embraces life on the open road with a unique combination of style, comfort and profitability. Exterior features include:

  • Unique metallic black paint with contrasting silver/orange striping in classic Harley-Davidson style.

  • Authentic Harley-Davidson headlights, pulled directly from the famous Harley-Davidson Screamin' Eagle Performance Division.

  • Massive 7-inch chrome stacks with aggressive bologna cut tips for a custom look.

  • Set-back fuel tanks for a sleeker, west coast appearance

  • Custom-forged and -machined 24.5-inch aluminum wheels with unique lug nut covers and Harley-Davidson Bar and Shield center caps.

  • Unique formed super-deep custom sunshade and a distinctive aluminum battery box sporting Harley-Davidson Bar and Shield logos.

The LoneStar Harley-Davidson Special Edition can be customized to reflect the owner's personality. Owners can make their truck uniquely their own with more than 40 customization options available at launch.

The interior also offers the Harley-Davidson look and feel. It features rich leather upholstery, turned aluminum gauge faces, dark rosewood cabinets and a dark walnut floor. Built for a select few, it even includes a limited production number plate on the shifter.

New MaxxForce engine

Navistar also announced at MATS that it would add a 15-liter diesel engine to its MaxxForce product line. A working version was on display with one of the trucks Navistar exhibited at the show. Horsepower will range from 435 to 550.

The MaxxForce 15-liter combines the basic block and architecture of Caterpillar's current C15 engine with Navistar's fuel and emissions systems. Like other MaxxForce engines, the 15-liter power plant will use exhaust gas recirculation to meet emission requirements. The engine will be available sometime after January 2010.Navistar and Caterpillar announced in late 2008 that they had agreed to jointly develop various products. The MaxxForce 15 is the first joint product to be announced.
