New research by Optipoint Custom Tracking shows that integration of electronic onboard recorders and other asset management systems with existing information technology infrastructure increases efficiencies and returns on investment. Performance of existing systems will substantially improve with such integration, the research shows.

The research illuminates an important connection for those businesses that rely heavily on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and other organizational systems for their profitability.

A strong correlation was observed between increasing returns on investment from IT and the amount a company invests in integrating their systems with specialized software such as EOBRs and vehicle tracking systems. Furthermore, the research discussed in the paper, The Evolution of Integration: New Perspectives on How to Make the Most of ERP Systems, shows that the more complex are a company’s operations, the stronger is that important correlation.

“As modern ERP systems have evolved, those planning and utilizing such systems have shifted from a ‘best of breed’ approach to a ‘best of suite’ strategy,” writes Ruben Mirensky, Optipoint Custom Tracking chief executive officer in his latest white paper. “As this shift has occurred, the ability of ERP systems to efficiently integrate with specialized software, such as EOBRs and vehicle tracking systems, has become increasingly important.”

Currently, there is no federal universal mandate to install EOBRs except for repetitive HOS violators. In this new paper, Mirensky explains that companies shouldn’t wait for the mandate to install EOBRs to be compulsory but instead to be driven to it by the competitive nature of the market. The paper discusses the evolution of modern ERP systems and why the integration of specialized software is critical to making companies more efficient and more profitable.

Optipoint Custom Tracking offers advanced GPS systems that integrate data with existing ERP and other organizational systems to give clients in all industries information and control that can be tailored to specific applications. For more information, see www.optipointtracking.com/.
