The Military & Marine Group within Blackmer recently received the Defense Supply Center, Columbus (OH) Recognition for Excellence Bronze Award for 2008. This award goes to DSCC suppliers that meet tenets of the DSCC's Automatic Best-Value System. The computerized system evaluates product value, shipping efficiency, delivery time, payment systems, and a supplier's compliance with the DSCC's wide-area work-flow system. This system tracks sales and payments for equipment according to standards established by government inspectors.

The award was presented Aug 18, 2009, to Steve Wall, Blackmer's military and marine sales/application engineer, during the DSCC's 2009 Land and Maritime Supply Chain Business Conference and Exhibition at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Only 83 companies, of the more than 5,000 with which the DSCC does business, received a Recognition for Excellence award. Blackmer also received a Recognition for Excellence award in 2003.

The DSCC is known to more than 24,000 military and civilian customers and 10,000 contractors as one of the largest suppliers of weapon systems spare parts in the United States. Formerly a wholesaler, the DSCC has transformed into an end-to-end supply-chain manager that connects business processes from the supplier to the customer through the Land and Maritime Supply Chains.

The DSCC is a link in the supply/demand chain in the US Department of Defense's Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Fort Belvoir VA. The DLA is in charge of supplying the nation's military services and several civilian agencies with critical resources to accomplish worldwide missions, both in peacetime and wartime.
