Charles “Shorty” Whittington, Grammer Industries Inc, Grammer IN, and American Trucking Associations (ATA) first vice-chairman, has been recognized for his commitment to Indiana agriculture and presented with the state’s AgriVision Award.

Indiana Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman presented the award, which is presented annually to a Hoosier who demonstrates exemplary leadership and contributes to maximizing Indiana’s agricultural potential and securing the state’s future as a world leader in agricultural production.

“The AgriVision Award is a way to say thank you to one person each year who exemplifies the work of so many,” said Skillman. “Shorty is truly a leader in agriculture, and he exemplifies what the award is about--impacting Indiana agriculture through innovation, technology, and new business approaches.”

Whittington is a founding member of the Agricultural and Food Transporters Conference of the American Trucking Associations and has served as chairman of the AFTC Board of Directors for more than five years.

He also founded one of Indiana’s first soy-biofuels plants, Integrity BioFuels LLC. He is past-chairman of the Indiana Motor Truck Association. He is a Director and board member of the Midwest Agriculture Farmers Cooperative, a transportation consultant to the Fertilizer Institute and Agricultural Retailers Associations, a member of the Bartholomew County School Board Advisory Council on vocational training and a Trustee of the Burnsville IN Christian Church.
