Vopak acquires company in Turkey

Royal Vopak, Rotterdam, the Netherlands, has acquired GY Elyaf ve Iplik Sanayi Ticaret Anonim Sirketi from Global Yatirim Holding AS with plans to construct a storage terminal on the coast of the Sea of Marmara, according to Vopak information.

The principal asset of the company acquired is a 26-hectares (64-acre) industrial plot of land in the vicinity of Yalova, Republic of Turkey. The company is expected to have direct involvement in the future of the Vopak, which aims at constructing the storage terminal to serve the greater Istanbul, Turkey, area for the import of liquid bulk chemical, oil, and vegetable oil products.

Vopak said the industry around the Sea of Marmara is developing rapidly and its major customers have expressed an interest in utilizing independent storage facilities in the area.
