Schneider National Bulk Division is leveraging more than 40 years in the longhaul tank truck sector by expanding into the local and regional bulk hauling arenas. Over the last year, Schneider National introduced shorter length of haul capabilities to shippers in four US markets, with expansion into additional markets planned for later this year.

“Today’s bulk customer has a mix of long and short haul needs,” said George Grossardt, vice-president and general manager of Schneider National Bulk. “Providing local and regional bulk service gives customers a single-source bulk solution that capitalizes on Schneider’s history of safety and service.”

Schneider National Bulk’s local and regional service operates out of Schneider National operating centers/terminals in the southern, Midwestern, and eastern United States. In 2007, Schneider first began offering the service to the Houston TX, New Orleans LA, and Chicago IL markets. This past April, Schneider opened a new terminal in Pittsburgh PA and simultaneously launched the service in that market.

A new terminal is scheduled to open this summer in Keasbey NJ, and shippers in that market can expect bulk local and regional service for their area before the end of 2008. Other markets throughout the United States will be added over the next few years.
