Schneider National Inc. has added fuel-hauling capabilities to its bulk division. Stemming from the emergency fuel supply chain Schneider managed for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the United States Department of Transportation during Hurricane Katrina recovery, this new service extends Schneider's commitment to safety and excellence into the fuel-hauling sector.

“Schneider hauled over 1.5 million gallons of diesel and provided drivers, supervision, and dispatch services for the Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts,” said George Grossardt, vice president and general manager of Schneider National Bulk. “Within days we were able to put together a plan to fuel emergency vehicles and secure hard-to-find diesel storage containers. After a deeper look into this leg of the transportation sector, Schneider realized that offering this service to customers was the next natural extension in our current transportation offerings.”

Schneider's research into the fuel-hauling industry revealed aging fleets around the nation, new environmental regulations, and fuel supply capacity issues.

Fuel-hauling services are offered in the Gulf Coast region (stretching from New Orleans LA to Houston TX) and the upper Midwest. Schneider will also explore expanding its fuel-hauling capacity to the eastern United States.
