May 19, 2016

National Tank Truck Carriers Inc announced that Boyd Stephenson has joined the organization as senior vice-president and counsel. He will assume his duties in the third quarter after a brief transition period from his current role with the American Trucking Associations.

Stephenson brings considerable experience and talent to his new position having served the trucking industry for the past several years as one of its leading policy experts. In his new role, Stephenson will serve as chief of staff and direct NTTC’s advocacy and education efforts across the full spectrum of membership services.

“We are extremely pleased to add Boyd Stephenson to our executive team,” said NTTC Chairman Brian Wood. “His overall skillset offers the NTTC a tremendous combination of policy expertise on both the legislative and regulatory fronts that will allow the NTTC to more effectively pursue its mission to champion safety and education through advocacy in the tank truck community.”

Stephenson added: “After so many years working as an ally of the NTTC on its unique operating issues, I’m truly honored to join such a prestigious organization which is widely recognized for its safety-first approach to trucking. I look forward to working with my new team and its carrier leadership as we showcase NTTC’s achievements to policymakers in Washington.”

NTTC President Daniel R Furth, said: “Prior to joining the NTTC, Boyd’s policy portfolio included major tank truck industry issues such as hazardous materials policy, cross-border security, and driver credentialing. Having worked with him closely for years, I am confident that his leadership ability and knowledge will greatly benefit our membership as we expand our service offering and pursue our strategic priorities.”

The National Tank Truck Carriers Inc has represented the tank truck industry before Congress and various federal agencies since its founding in 1945. NTTC’s membership is comprised of more than 600 companies that specialize in bulk transportation services by cargo tank throughout North America. The tank truck industry generates roughly 5.1% of all truck freight revenue, but that represents 25.6% of all truck freight in terms of tonnage due to the heavy nature of the liquid bulk products we handle.
