Wash rack operators will find the March 30-31 tank cleaning meetings filled with topics tailored for the industry and featuring environmental issues, technical discussions, regulatory and research updates, efficiency tips, and last but not least--enhancing relationships between cleaning facilities and the carriers they serve.

The April 1-2 Safety Council segment will include discussions on personal protective equipment (PPE), Internet use efficiency, federal program/regulations updates, identity theft, "card check" update, and security.

Another benefit of the meeting is the opportunity for attendees to interact with their peers over lunch and at receptions following the seminars. Members of the Councils also will elect officers for the upcoming year.

The Safety Council meeting begins April 1 with Daniel Bowen of DuPont Technical Resources discussing fire retardant clothing; Ron Ashby of Ashby Transportation Consultants, SAFER and FMCSA Web site usage; Jack VanSteenburg of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), regulation updates; and Kimberly Ferris of Commercial Driver’s Legal Plan, identity theft.

On April 2, the program includes Dan Furth of the NTTC staff, update on "card check"; Griff Rogers of Andrews Logistics, distracted drivers; Steve Niswander of Groendyke Transport, preventing crashes; Neil Voorhees of Trimac Transportation, accidents involving stationary objects; and John Harris of First Observer Highway ISAC, transportation security.

Also on the Safety Council program are open forums, roundtable breakout sessions, NTTC staff Washington update, and regional council meetings. The safety session will close with the annual banquet and safety award presentations April 2.
