Ronald Hawkins Jr, a 12-year veteran of K-Limited Carrier Ltd, Toledo OH, has been named the Ohio Trucking Association (OTA) 2007 Driver of the Year.

Hawkins has 11 more years with previous employers giving him a career total of 23 years and over 1.7 million accident-free miles. In addition, he was named K-Limited’s Driver of the Year in 2006 and is a certified driver trainer who has trained over 100 company drivers since coming to work for the company. Hawkins also is a volunteer for the Komen Race for the Cure Foundation and an active member of Epiphany Lutheran Church.

Hawkins was presented the award April 25 in Columbus OH. "It was a night that we will never forget and are so very proud and honored to have such a fine professional within our family at K-Limited,” said Kim Kaplan, K-Limited president.

The Driver of the Year is selected by a panel of judges who represent personnel from safety regulatory agencies, such as the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, and Columbus office of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Drivers are judged on a composite of experience, such as years in the industry, miles driven safely, attitude, any incidences of bravery/heroism/courtesy, and activities outside of driving (including any leadership capacities), according to OTA information.
