The International Liquid Terminal Association (ILTA) Gulf Coast Regional Conference will be held November 4, 2010, at the Hotel Derek in Houston TX. A pre-conference Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) eight-hour refresher course will be November 3 at the same location.

The conference will provide an opportunity to hear presentations on some of the most important issues facing terminals in the Gulf Coast region, to share experiences, and to network with others in the industry. A reception will be held the evening of November 3 prior to the start of the conference. Exhibitors will be available throughout the reception and November 4 to provide information on the latest products and services for the terminal industry.

Keynote speaker is Captain James Hanzalik, US Coast Guard 8th District chief of response. In July, Hanzalik assumed the role of Louisiana Incident Commander for the response to the BP oil spill. He will discuss the Coast Guard's management of the oil spill cleanup process in the Gulf. He will also address the topics of spill response, port and waterway security, and marine safety.

Additional presentations during the conference include:

  • Emergency Management and Business Continuity Programs

  • Chemical Facility Security

  • Impacts of the Offshore Drilling Moratorium

  • TWIC Card Reader Pilot Program in the Port of Brownsville

  • EPA's Objection to TCEQ's Title V Operating Permits

  • Storage Capacity Outlook for the Gulf Coast Area

The HAZWOPER refresher training will be conducted by O'Brien's Response Management, a provider of crisis and emergency response services.
