Dennis R. Shirar, a driver for Heritage Transport LLC, Indianapolis IN, has been selected as the 2009 Driver of the Year by the Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA).
He has logged over three million accident-free miles driving tractor trailers over the past 31 years. Shirar also was named the American Trucking Associations 2008 National Truck Driving Grand Champion. Shirar's driving skills and knowledge of transportation and truck safety information topped those of 375 other professional drivers from across the United States in the National Truck Driving Championships held in August 2008 in Houston TX. In addition, he was named 2008 Indiana Motor Trucking Association’s (IMTA) Master Truck Driver.
