Greatwide Logistics Services, a national provider of third-party logistics services, has substantially increased the operations capacity and capabilities of its 24/7/365 Transportation Operations Center (TOC) in Dallas TX. The newly expanded TOC is responsible for transportation management of a large part of the firm’s 5,000-truck fleet. Greatwide centrally dispatches and optimizes capacity between clients and local operating centers.

The company has implemented proprietary software tools to streamline its network, while increasing shipment visibility and reducing customers’ transportation spend. These tools provide the TOC with complete command and control capabilities. Customers using Greatwide’s offerings—brokerage, dedicated, and Managed Transportation Services—are benefiting from these improvements.

Greatwide manages all transportation functions out of the TOC, including procurement, planning, dispatch, execution, and distribution, as well as back-office functions such as billing, settlements, and accounts. The company extracts data from the transportation management platform and transfers it into its custom internal freight board to optimize loads and reduce empty miles. In addition to the TOC, company personnel are also on-site at customers’ facilities to better manage their needs and provide support to drivers.

“With the expansion of the TOC and the adoption of a single technology platform, we are realizing our vision for the facility: to better serve our customers through increased efficiency and visibility, and an overall reduction in transportation and logistics expense,” said John Simone, president and chief operating officer of Greatwide.
