Feb. 3, 2016

Fort Transfer, Morton IL, has expanded its position as a successful liquid bulk hauler by adding foodgrade transportation to meet customer needs. Foodgrade transport operations commenced in mid-January.

Foodgrade service was launched with four sanitary tank trailers in Morton, with six more trailers entering service at the carrier’s Saint Gabriel LA terminal at the beginning of March. Initially, the tank truck carrier will focus on glycerine, vinegar, and edible oils cargoes.

“We are excited about our growth and the new opportunities for our drivers and our customers,” said Erin Schuette, Fort Transfer director of recruiting and retention. “With our reputation for safety, service, and on-time delivery, food transportation was an attractive addition to our existing platform.”

Established in 1925, Fort Transfer, has become known for the transportation of general chemical and agriculture products over the years. Fort Transfer has become a leader in the specialized services of liquid bulk and operates one of the largest liquid bulk storage facilities in the Midwest.

The family-owned business has grown to over 90 employees and more than 140 drivers. With terminals in Morton, Saint Gabriel, and Nederland TX, Fort Transfer delivers to 48 states and Canada and works with many of the chemical industry’s top manufacturers.
