Flint Hills Resources companies earn 78 awards for performance

Flint Hills Resources LLC companies have earned 78 local-, state-, and national-level awards for safety and environmental excellence for 2010 performance. These honors recognize FHR’s sites and employees for their achievements in operating plants responsibly and safely.

Flint Hills Resources LLC companies have earned 78 local-, state-, and national-level awards for safety and environmental excellence for 2010 performance. These honors recognize FHR’s sites and employees for their achievements in operating plants responsibly and safely.

The company’s Rosemount MN refinery has received the Award of Honor–Governor’s Safety Awards from the Minnesota Safety Council for four consecutive years. It has also received a Wastewater Treatment Facility award from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency for two consecutive years.

FHR’s terminals group received the Safety Excellence Award from the International Liquid Terminals Association. In addition, three Wisconsin fuels terminals joined four Texas terminals as Star certified sites under the US Occupational Safety & Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Programs. Star certification recognizes the terminals exemplary safety programs.

Safety achievements by the company’s chemical plants were honored with the Thoroughbred Chemical Safety Award from Norfolk Southern. The award recognizes a company for shipping more than 1,000 carloads of regulated hazardous material over the railroad’s 22-state network without incident for the year. In 2011, 45 corporations and four plants earned that distinction.
