On December 20 and 21, 2016, Dupré Logistics hosted Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association (FMCSA) Administrator Scott Darling at the company’s Channelview TX facility, which provided an opportunity to see the carrier’s safety programs in action first-hand.

The Lafayette LA-based logistics and transportation provider gave Darling a series of presentations about the company’s safety programs, a facilities tour and provided a driver ride-along to share a full perspective of hazardous materials transportation in the current regulatory environment.

“The FMCSA, the regulatory agency of the US Department of Transportation, shares Dupré’s goal of reducing crashes, injuries and fatalities involving trucks,” said Al LaCombe, Dupré director of safety and training. “Administrator Darling’s commitment and time to furthering this mission and seeing first-hand the challenges our drivers of hazardous materials face on a daily basis makes a huge impact on our industry and strengthens the partnership between regulators and providers.”

Darling’s visit included meetings with administrative leadership and drivers and mechanics. The company shared many facets of its service areas and specifically included discussions of driver hiring and training processes as they relate to safety and federal regulations. A specific focus was placed on the behavior-based safety programs and human behavior training that have gained Dupré recognition in the industry for safety for the past 10-plus years.

Darling has served as the administrator of the FMCSA since 2014.  An appointee of President Obama, and the fifth administrator of the agency, Darling joined FMCSA in 2012 as chief counsel.
