Diesel fuel’s national average price rose for the eighth consecutive week, gaining 2.3 cents to $3.43 a gallon, according to US Department of Energy information.
The diesel increase leaves its national average 59.7 cents over the same week in 2010. Trucking’s main fuel has climbed 26.8 cents in the past two months, including the prior week’s 7.4-cent jump—the highest one-week gain since April.
The largest increase was in the New England states where the price advanced 4.9 cents. The highest average price was in California at $3.602, followed closely by the Central Atlantic states at $3.59.
