Bay & Bay Transportation acquires J&C Trucking

May 6, 2014

Bay & Bay Transportation of Rosemount MN announced May 5 that it had officially acquired J&C Trucking of Baldwin WI. The purchase will grow Bay & Bay’s tank division by 50%.

J&C is Bay and Bay’s primary competitor in the Minnesota-Wisconsin market for hauling dry bulk commodities in the Midwest.

The acquisition will bring greater value to customers, according to Sam Anderson, president and CEO of Bay & Bay. “The addition of J&C Trucking to our tank division is powerful,” he said. We’ll achieve an even higher operating ratio due to the overlap in freight networks and improved equipment efficiency. It’s a real win for customers.”

The acquisition increases Bay & Bay’s total tank fleet to over 150 trucks and its overall fleet to more than 500 trucks. Bay & Bay will keep J&C’s Baldwin headquarters and all J&C staff in place indefinitely.

Bay & Bay is actively growing its tank, refrigerated, and dedicated trucking segments through acquisitions of profitable, well-managed companies that have geographic and/or equipment types that align with Bay & Bay. In addition to expanding trucking operations, the company’s brokerage division will move more than 40,000 shipments in 2014.
