Pennsylvania House passes tougher CDL rules

Jan 1, 2002 12:00 PM

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has approved legislation that prohibits the state's Department of Transportation from issuing or renewing non-resident commercial driver licenses (CDLs). The legislation also requires all applicants with hazardous materials, tank carrier, and hazardous tank license designations to be fingerprinted and undergo a criminal background check, according to information from Rep Richard Geist (R-Altoona). This action is part of a package of anti-terrorism legislation approved Dec 3, 2001, by the Pennsylvania House.
