CVSA backs inspections on US/Mexico border

Aug 1, 2002 12:00 PM

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has joined the Texas Department of Public Safety in suggesting that commercial vehicle safety inspection facilities should be constructed at United States/Mexico border crossing points rather than at locations further inland. CVSA says any sites other than at the border could have the effect of creating a new and expanded commercial zone that could compromise safety on Texas highways. In addition, CVSA recommends uniform enforcement procedures at all border crossing sites with Mexico including location of inspection sites.
