FMCSA to reconsider driver training requirements

Dec 13, 2005 5:00 PM

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has been ordered by a US Court of Appeals to reconsider its training requirements for entry-level commercial drivers, according to information from the Truckload Carriers Association.

The court ruled that FMCSA’s requirements do not include any behind-the-wheel training. A new rulemaking can be expected in the future, but the current requirements will remain in place until FMCSA develops the new standards.
